Getting Started
Is Barre Groove good for beginners?

Absolutely. Most of our members had never set foot on a fitness trampoline before their first class. Our instructors offer modifications throughout every class so you can work at your own level, and Bounce & Barre — our flagship format — is specifically designed to be accessible from day one while still challenging for regulars. If you can show up, you can do this.

What should I expect in my first class?

Honestly? A little nervousness — and then a lot of fun. Most first-timers feel self-conscious about bouncing at first. It’s not something most adults do, and it can feel unfamiliar for the first few reps. But the movement clicks quickly, the instructors are warm and attentive, and the community in the room makes it easy to let go and enjoy it.

The workout itself is 45 minutes of barre and pilates-inspired sculpting combined with low-impact trampoline cardio. Your instructor will guide every move, offer modifications, and keep the energy high the whole time. Many people who were most hesitant before their first class end up being our most loyal members — Chrissy M, now at 800+ classes, said Barre Groove “single-handedly changed my attitude towards fitness.”

What class should I take first?

We recommend starting with Bounce & Barre — our signature format and the best introduction to what Barre Groove is all about. It combines barre and pilates-inspired sculpting with trampoline cardio in a balanced 45-minute class that’s beginner-friendly but delivers real results from session one.

Once you’ve found your groove, you can explore our other four formats: Boost, Bounce & Bands, Dance & Define, and POM. Not sure which is right for you? Take our 2-minute fitness survey for a personalized recommendation.

How is Barre Groove different from a traditional pilates or barre studio?

Traditional barre and pilates studios deliver great sculpting — but they leave a cardio gap that most women fill by stacking a second workout. At Barre Groove, the trampoline solves that in a single 45-minute class.

The unstable surface forces your deep stabilizers, glutes, and core to engage at a level a flat mat simply can’t replicate — activating 400+ muscles per session — while the bounce adds zone 2 cardiovascular work that strengthens your legs and elevates your heart rate without a single high-impact rep. You get the pilates and barre results you’re after, plus cardio. No stacking required.

Is trampoline fitness safe for people with bad knees or joint issues?

It’s actually one of the best workouts for people with joint concerns. The trampoline surface absorbs up to 80% of impact compared to hard surfaces like pavement or a gym floor — significantly less stress on your knees, hips, and ankles with every rep.

Many of our members came to us specifically because running, HIIT, or other high-impact workouts were aggravating their joints. As always, if you have a specific injury or medical condition, we recommend checking with your doctor before starting any new fitness routine.

How often should I come to see results?

We recommend at least two classes per week to build momentum and start feeling the difference. Members who come three or more times per week consistently report the strongest results — stronger muscles, better posture, more energy, and noticeable changes in tone within the first month.

It’s worth noting that members who commit to three classes a week often find our unlimited membership pays for itself quickly compared to drop-in rates. The good news: because classes are 45 minutes and genuinely enjoyable, building that consistency tends to happen naturally once you find your groove.

Do I need any prior fitness experience?

None at all. We welcome women at every fitness level — from complete beginners to Celtics dancers. Our instructors teach to the room, offering modifications for those just starting out and opportunities to push harder for those who want more. The only requirement is showing up.

How much does it cost to get started?

The best way to start is our Find Your Groove trial — 3 classes for $49. Try it across all three Boston studios — Downtown Crossing, South Boston, and Back Bay on Newbury Street — within two weeks, and experience different formats before committing to a membership.
